Serial DUI driver convicted of murder, additional charges
A man who was arrested twice for drunk driving in less than two weeks in incidents that seriously injured one person and killed another was convicted of murder. The jury trial concluded today at Sacramento Superior Court.
Jonathan Lindow was convicted second-degree murder, DUI causing injury, DUI causing injury with a BAC more than .08%, DUI, and DUI with a BAC more than .08%. The jury also found true allegations that Lindow’s BAC was .15% and .20% or higher, that he personally inflicted great bodily injury, and that he caused bodily injury to more than one victim.
On November 9, 2022, Lindow crashed his vehicle into a motorcycle at the intersection of Greenback Lane and Hazel Avenue. Lindsay Crawford and her husband was on the motorcycle with her husband.
Ms. Crawford suffered lethal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her husband suffered a fractured collarbone and vertebrae among other injuries.
Lindow submitted to a blood test, which yielded a .23% BAC.
Three weeks earlier on October 14, 2022, Lindow was driving 20 miles over the speed limit in Folsom. When he submitted to a blood test in that incident, it yielded a .20% BAC.
Lindow has five prior convictions involving DUI and was provided with the Watson advisement, which is an advisement that driving under the influence is extremely dangerous to human life and might lead to a charge of murder if someone is killed as a result.
Sentencing is on January 12, 2024. Lindow faces a maximum sentence of 23 years to life in prison.
