As a relatively late entrant in the race for a seat on the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees, Susan Davis landed a significant endorsement in her bid against incumbent Trustee Tony Perez.

Davis recently posted on her Facebook campaign page, "Thank you, Elk Grove Education Association, for your endorsement and support. It is much appreciated and I am humbled at your confidence in my ability to best represent our students, teachers, staff, and community. Your trust means the world to me, and I am committed to working tirelessly on behalf of our entire district."

According to documents filed with the Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections, Davis entered the race on July 8. Because she filed after June 30, Davis is not yet required to file a California Form 460 showing campaign contributions.

Davis is challenging Trustee Tony Perez, who is seeking his fourth four-year term. First elected to the board in 20012, Perez has not been pursuing campaign contributions, according to his filings with the SCVRE, and has frequent acrimonious interactions during board meetings with fellow trustees and district staff, including Superintendent Christopher Hoffman.

Ms. Davis also appears to have formed an allegiance with two other EGUSD Board of Trustee candidates, Jennifer Ballerini and Rehana Rehman Chaudhry, who are running in areas 6 and 7, respectively. Davis's Facebook page has a posting showing she, Rehman Chaury, and Ballerini participated in the Sacramento Central Labor Council's Citizen and Candidate Labor 101 event.

Although Davis has not recorded any campaign contributions, with the endorsement of the Elk Grove Education Association, the collective bargaining unit for EGUSD teachers, teachers, nurses, counselors, librarians, and speech and language therapists, it is probable she will receive substantial support for her campaign.
