Three seats for this November's Cosumnes Community Services District election will be uncontested

This election cycle, three seats on the Cosumnes Community Services District were set for the November ballot. However, only one candidate will appear on the ballot for each seat.

The information posted on the Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections website for the CCSD's Division 1, 3, and 4 positions reveals one candidate for each position. Division 3 incumbent Jim Luttrell did not draw a challenger and will be reappointed to another term.

In Divisions 1 and 4, incumbents Gil Albiani and Orlando Fuentes did not seek reelection. Since no incumbents were in those races, the filing period was extended by one week. Before the filing period was extended, candidates Rich Lozano and Daniella Zehander filed papers for Divisions 1 and 4, and even with the extension, no other candidates entered.

With no opponent, Lozano and Zehnder will be appointed to the positions. When the new CCSD Board of Directors convenes for its first meeting in December, four of the five directors will have been appointed.

In 2022, Division 5 Director Angela Spease was unopposed and was appointed. The only director this December who will have been elected will be Peter Sakaris, who won a competitive race in 2022.

When Lozano takes office, it will be the second time the current Galt City Council member will serve on the CCSD Board of Directors.

The CCSD provides fire services in Elk Grove and Galt and manages parks and recreation programs in Elk Grove.
