Today’s vote tallies for Sacramento County will clarify several tight races

At 4 p.m. today, Sacramento County Elections and Voters Registration will update the results from last week’s election. That release could clarify several close races.

Among the closest races are for Sacramento County Supervisors District 5. In this race, as of last Friday, about one-quarter of the votes had been counted and showed Pat Hume has 51.35 percent with 22,391 votes to Jaclyn Moreno’s 48.65 percent with 21,210 votes.

Another race that will be clarified is the California State Senate District 8 race between Angelique Ashby and Dave Jones. Asby currently has 52 percent with 51,383, while Jones has 47,378 votes for 48 percent.

Two sales taxes, Sacramento County Measure A, which was losing, and Elk Grove’s Measure E, which was winning, will be clarified. Measure A Yes votes have consistently lagged by about eight percent, while Elk Grove’s Yes on E votes have led by the same amount.

Today’s tallies should determine the winner of the California Assembly District 10 contest between Eric Guerra and Stephanie Nguyen. Since the first result was released last Tuesday, Nguyen has held at least a 12 percent advantage.

Last week Nguyen attended a Democratic Assembly Caucus meeting in Sacramento in anticipation of her victory.
