Trump supporters hold Elk Grove rally, vehicle parade
Supporters of Donald Trump rallied at an Elk Grove gun shop and conducted a vehicle parade on California Highway 99.

Over the last 40 years, the Sacramento County, California community of Elk Grove has substantially changed. At one time, it had an agricultural-based economy and a predominantly white, conservative population.

Since then, the town's population has exploded and has become an ethnically, racially, and religiously diverse suburban community dominated by state of California employees. With these changes, the city's political representation has changed from a Republican to a Democratic stronghold.

While Republicans and conservatives are now outnumbered, especially in the era when former Republican president Donald Trump is unpopular with the Democratic majority, they haven't completely disappeared from the Elk Grove political landscape.

That was evident on Saturday, September 14 rally held at Wild Bill's Old West Trading gun shop on Grant Line Road. Several dozen people attended a Trump-themed rally between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

At 1 p.m., about three dozen vehicles left the gun shop festooned with the Trump flag and blaring horns. The parade traveled north on Highway 99 to the Laguna Boulevard/Bond Road exit.

However, a visit to the area at the end of the parade did not show any congregation of the vehicles, indicating that the event had concluded.
