Two Republicans, Two Democrats on a mailer – Are Singh-Allen, Suen Republicans in disguise posing as Democrats?
Elk Grove voters will significantly affect the hotly contested race between Republican Pat Hume and Democrat Jaclyn Moreno for the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors District 5 seat. Although polling information is scant, recent activities by both candidates and their surrogates indicate it could be a nail-biter.
Using his campaign funds, Hume has distributed a mailer to Republican voters. Along with featuring a slew of law enforcement logos, the mailer feature Hume’s fellow Republican, Elk Grove City Councilmember Kevin Spease, and two Democratic office holders – Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and Elk Grove Vice Mayor Darren Suen.
The significance of this mailer is Singh-Allen and Suen both had to agree to have their images used by Hume on the Republican-targeted mailer. Or, more bluntly, Singh-Allen, who once was a Republican and Suen, have abandoned the Democratic Party to aid their pal, Republican Hume.
Now politicians claim this shows this they can work on a bipartisan basis. That is a false flag.
When she was a Democratic U.S. Senator, Hillary Clinton worked closed with die-hard Republican Texas U.S. Rep and then-House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. While those two were diametrically opposite on most issues, they worked together to improve conditions for foster children.
Also famously, the later Senators Republican Orrin Hatch and Democrat Ted Kennedy became close associates and friends. Along with working together on common ground legislation they supported, they became close personal and family friends.
Notwithstanding their close personal relationship, neither endorsed the other in their respective reelection bids. They developed friendships, worked closely, and, dare we say, loved each other, but there was one thing they never did – they never put their friendship ahead of party loyalty.
So while it is fine and even encouraging for politicians to work with those of opposing views for the improvement of constituents’ lives and developing relationships, there is one thing that any politician should never do short of abandoning their Constitutional sworn duty. Unless it is some wing nut like Trump, that would be abandoning your party in support of a candidate in the opposite party.
So as the Mayor and her Vice Mayor seek higher office in the future – and they will – if you are a Democratic voter, you have to ask, are Singh-Allen and Suen Republicans in disguise posing as Democrats?
If you use the Clinton-DeLay or Hatch-Kenney alliances as a basis for comparison on political cooperation and friendships, the answer is a big fat YES.
Singh-Allen and Suen are Republicans disguised as Democrats.
