Union Pacific trains stopped, blocking crossings again in the City of Elk Grove

Sheldon Road Union Pacific rail crossing in Elk Grove was blocked again during the early hours of Friday, September 29, 2023.

Starting at about 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, at least three Union Pacific Rail crossings in Elk Grove were blocked – Sheldon, Elk Grove-Florin, and Bond roads. Elk Grove Police have posted detours and rerouted local traffic.

This is being posted at 12:40 a.m. on Friday, September 29, and the rails cars are still not moving. It is time for the City of Elk Grove to work on this persistent problem that affects people living on the wrong side of the tracks in Elk Grove.

Delaying improvements will be hazardous on many different levels.
