During the Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Elk Grove City Council meeting, a feline advocate called out a member of the five-person body.

Councilmember Sergio Robles was called out by Ms. Kat Medoza for taking trips to New York City and staying at Hyatt Hotels on the taxpayers’ dime. Ms Mendoza has highlighted Elk Grove’s discretionary expenditures while claiming there is not enough money in the budget to bolster animal shelter services.
