Voices of Elk Grove – Resident critical of role given to citizen Measure E oversight committee

Typically a city council ally, this Elk Grove citizen criticizes the process

The oversight committee will monitor revenues and expenditures of Elk Grove’s Measure E, which increased sales taxes in the city by one percent. The tax increase will provide the city with an additional $23 million annually.

Measure E was approved by Elk Grove voters in November 2022. The city has promised to use the new revenue for quality of life issues, to address Elk Grove’s quickly growing homeless population, and for public safety, although it is under no statutory requirement to spend it as promised.
