With one day until deadline only one candidate in Elk Grove’s District 4 race

With a 5 p.m. filing deadline on Friday, August 12, there is only one known candidate for Elk Grove’s City Council District 4.

The sole District 4 candidate is Elk Grove Planning Commissioner Sergio Robles. A field representative for Rep. Ami Bera, Robles, is supported by Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen.

Elk Grove News has learned another person has drawn papers of District 4. However, that person said they had decided not to pursue the position.

If no other candidate enters the race before tomorrow, Robles would run unopposed and be the next District 4 council member. Former Mayor Gary Davis, former Councilmember Steve Detrick, and current Councilmember Pat Hume were unopposed as incumbents once each during their tenure.

However, in the city’s history, there has never been an open seat that drew only one candidate.

Singh-Allen has one declared opponent in her reelection bid, Brian Pastor. A candidate for mayor in 2020, Pastor came in third place.
